Looking back at all we have been through over the past two and a half years when our nation had no choice but to be still in the wake of the pandemic, allowed me to reflect on our own lives. What would it be like if you arise one morning, and everything is gone? Everything that you have worked so diligently and hard for is lost. Just imagine that. When the COVID-19 virus takes over our lives, how many of us were lost for words, didn’t know where to begin, how to start over, or how to communicate with our families in a closed space. I imagine it was challenging for most of us. Some of us lost families, friends, find ourselves experiencing health challenges, depression, increased anxiety, worry, and fear of when it will be over.
The pandemic is a great example of how at one moment we can have it all, and the next there is no evidence of our lives here on earth. Paul says, “I know how to abase and how to abound, Philippians 4:12. In other words, he knows how to be humble in all circumstances whether he has plenty or very little. Paul is humbled by his experience because in whatever circumstance he finds himself, he knows very well that to receive what is promised, it is important that he embrace where he is and on who will allow him to attain all that is lost. To Paul, it didn’t matter that he didn’t have it all, the only thing that mattered was his work in reaching out the God’s people despite his circumstances.
As I am writing this, I am experiencing the harsh wilderness waiting for the promise. I value greatly the passion that I have to share inspiration to motivate others to continue, to trust and to hope in God for all things. To be honest, I would love to fold up in a corner and cry day and night in hope that something will change. Like Paul, I know that God will meet all my needs according to his riches in glory, Philippians 4:19. I realize that while I am working and waiting, God is working behind the scenes to move me through the wilderness to a place where I can drink the refreshing presence of his continual love for me. There is no drought in the presence of God, only water to restore your soul.
What about you? Did you lose something or someone during the pandemic? As we continue to experience inflation, job loss and the likes, let us hold fast to the word of God and allow it to permeate our hearts that in all circumstances we are humbled. God provides in all kinds of season. He is the way maker and the promise keeper. When all is lost, God, your God, will restore everything you lost, he will have compassion on you, he will come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered, Deuteronomy 30:3. Let us not loose heart. Let’s not take anything for granted. We have so much to live for. Most importantly, let us live our lives for Christ.
Father, we give you glory and honor for your presence in our lives as we continue to trust in you in and through all things. When tough seasons hold us bound, we look to you where all our help comes from. When all is lost, help us to be reminded that you are the God who restores in Jesus name amen.
