Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5
How many of us can admit that commitment can pull us in many direction especially when that commitment involves our children, aging parents, or our jobs. I can attest that I have had my fair share of commitment as a single parent who spend most of my spare time taking my son to museums, getting him involved in sports, taking him to amusement parks, helping with science projects, and keeping him busy with play dates. I couldn't let my guard down at any point, it was a constant cycle of what will we do next, where can we go. I recall our special dates were going to central park in New York City where he would ride the feres wheel, or ride his bike as I jog or roller skate as he rode along. I could not have done it all without leaning on God, and trusting him to bring me through.
What is your life of commitment like? Now that my son is grown, I spend many days writing, reading, doing research projects, it all boil down to allowing myself available to what's important because the end results leads to great endings. The bible tells us in Psalm 37:5 that David knew what its like to live a life of commitment. He governed his life by committing his plans and his life to the Lord. He lived this daily so that God would bring all his circumstances to pass. What an amazing evidence of the power of God working in David's life to bring everything, every concern on his heart to pass. He will do the same for us. When commitment becomes overbearing, we can live with the confident reassurance that God is with us, and he will bring every circumstance to pass. When we struggle to stay committed, we can take a step back, re-access where we are, seek God's direction, then move forward.
Commitment is not designed to leave you feeling burdened and anxious about life, it allows for a place of beginning that leads to end results. God is in all our plans. Trust him that he will bring it to pass, that he has a desirable end in mind even when we don't realize it. There is no plan too great that God is unaware. Trust him for the outcome.
Father, you are never unaware of the commitments that I face each day. Nothing take you by surprise. Thank you that even when my heart is overwhelmed and I feel like its more than I can bear. I thank you that you will lift me up and place me on the solid rock where my feet is secured in the name of Jesus amen.
Amen 🙏🏽
